Ovindu Hathnapitiya

Ovindu Hathnapitiya is a Computer Science and Technology Undergraduate passionate about volunteering and leadership. He is studying at Uva Wellassa University, Sri Lanka. Ovindu has technical knowledge and interpersonal communication skills. He is interested in Full-Stack Development and AI/ML.
Ovindu completed a certificate in Advanced Java Programming at the Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka. He also completed Job Skill Development training at the Bank of Ceylon, where he gained valuable experience in interpersonal communication and financial management.
Ovindu has a track record of being highly organized, detail-oriented, and outgoing, with excellent interpersonal and analytical skills. He is an adaptable, self-motivated leader who can work independently in a challenging and fast-paced environment. He has a strong passion for volunteering and has been part of organizations such as IEEE, FOSS, and LEO for several years, working on technical, humanitarian, and environmental conservation projects.
Ovindu actively participates in extra-curricular activities and volunteer work. He has held various leadership positions in IEEE, including as Former Vice-Chair of the IEEE Sri Lanka Inspire National Project. He is the Chairperson of the IEEE Uva Wellassa University Student Branch and works as the Recruitment and Retention Coordinator of SLSAC (Membership Development Sub Committee, Student Activities Committee, IEEE Sri Lanka Section). He has achieved several distinctions, including being a member of the runners-up team of the DeftCoders v8.0 Annual Overnight Intra University Hackathon and the runners-up team of the EngHack 2021 48-Hour Overnight Idea Hackathon.
