Marie Jagne, Soleil Jagne, Roselyn Jagne, and Angela Jagne (de Cristiano y Yneily Jagne) became activists working to promote women's rights and preserve their Afro-Hispanic heritage. Children of activists, all 4 followed in their parents’ footsteps working within the community of East Harlem. “Las Hijas del Barrio” is what they became widely known as; helping fight poverty, aiding teenage mothers who cannot support their families, and feeding and sheltering the homeless. Their brothers (Hector, Roberto, and Edmund) also became activists in the community and spreading the word of Jesus Christo to those in financial and religious need.
