A board-certified general surgeon, Dr. Pachavit Kasemsap served in the U.S. Air Force as a lieutenant colonel and flight surgeon. As senior medical director with Highmark, Inc., Pachavit Kasemsap, MD, is part of an expanding team that works with physician groups in employed and contracted capacities across the country. His administrative work helps ensure that hundreds of thousands of Medicare Advantage patients receive quality, cost effective care.
Dr. Kasemsap’s accomplishments with Highmark include setting in place a step-therapy protocol for macular degeneration that saved the company $15 million over a five-year period. He also oversaw $3 million in annual savings by removing a number of high-cost specialty medications from automatic authorization.
