Healthcare in Hilo, HI, US
Founded in 2004, Pacific Quest is an outdoor-based behavioral therapy program that combines whole-person wellness with organic gardening and neurodevelopmental treatment approaches to inspire and enable change in teens and young adults. Working from 30 acres of organic gardens the Big Island of Hawaii, Pacific Quest takes a holistic yet highly clinical approach to therapy, borrowing from the experience of its veteran team of behavioral health professionals.
Pacific Quest organizes 8-12 week retreats for students who are struggling with various psychological, emotional, and behavioral issues. The students take part in horticultural therapy every day alongside individual and group therapy sessions, as well as rites of passage and health and wellness training. An academic program that is aligned with the Common Core Curriculum and National Standards is available for students who have not completed high school and need to earn credits. Adult supervision is available 24/7, and students have access to medical resources throughout their stay.
In its close to 20 years of offering integrative behavioral therapy, Pacific Quest has helped thousands of students overcome challenges and reclaim their mental and emotional health. Through the Pacific Quest Foundation, it has also supported organizations such as the National Association of Therapeutic Schools and Programs, Cognia, and the Association for Experiential Education.
