Ismael Rivera

Lacking some direction in my youth, I stumbled on EMS career choice and it became a calling. As a paramedic, I worked in various settings across the country. In 2005 I joined the City of Somerville Fire Department and successfully completed the Mass Fire Academy FF1&2 curriculum. While I loved fighting fires, and am very proud of my work in Somerville, the life of a Firefighter was not a good fit for me. Starting at Bunker Hill Community College, I transferred to Tufts University and earned a BA in Biochemistry. From there I entered UMass Medical School as a MD candidate for the class of 2016.
