That's my mantra, a core belief that we are meant to have a love affair with life from the moment we're born, to the moment we leave this earth (and beyond, no doubt).

How do we nurture this love affair? Through creative expression. Our stories and songs and art keep the Earth alive, and Nature feeds our creative expression. We need each other.

At the core of this philosophy is the belief that human beings are a part of Nature - the natural world is our primary home; it is where we feel most vibrant, engaged, attuned, most keenly connected.

Also at the core of this philosophy is the belief that through our art, stories, and songs, we uncover the beauty at the heart of the tragedies and sorrows that are part of the human condition.

I love helping people write their stories, and love dreaming up creative adventures that help us fall back in love with life. 2014 will be the 7th year of my Wyoming “Literature & Landscape of the Horse” retreat (for men and women), the 17th ”River Writing Journey for Women,” and the third 12-day “Weaving Words & Women” adventure in Peru.

I have partnered with organizations like the Women’s Wilderness Institute, the Grand Canyon Field Institute, Aspen Writer’s Foundation and True Nature Journeys. In 2006, my river writing journeys were hailed by Oprah's O Magazine as “One of six great all-girl getaways of the year.” That was very cool! I also work with some great co-facilitators, like Sheri Griffith (outdoor adventure guru for 35 years).

How else do I express these passions? Besides writing? I'm a Senior Associate with the Children and Nature Network; Creative Consultant for the Clear Creek Land Conservancy; board member for the Vore Buffalo Jump Foundation, board member of Rural Lit RALLY (Buffalo State College, New York); founding member of the Northeastern Chapter of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation; founding member of Women Writing the West; past board member of the Colorado Authors League, and a member of numerous other regional and national writing organizations.

In 2013, Colorado Authors League gave my blog "All Things Literary. All Things Natural." the "Best Blog of the Year Award." It's all about how the intersection of creativity and nature come together for me.
