Raleigh, North Carolina

In my third semester at North Carolina Central University I am currently pursuing a degree in Hospitality and Tourism Administration. Graduating from high school in 2010 I began my college career at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro as a Business Administration major. Welcoming my daughter in the fall of 2013 I relocated to the Raleigh/ Durham area to continue my bachelor’s degree, now in hospitality, at North Carolina Central University. My passion for hospitality derives from always taking care of others via family and friends. Helping others to "feel at home" at all times is what drives me to continuously look for ways to make individuals feel comfortable no matter the circumstances, hour, or day. One of my favorite quotes I have learned since being in the hospitality industry is "Hospitality: making your guests feel like they're at home, even if you wish they were." While some may view this as a somewhat negative quote, I believe that it truly represents what hospitality is all about, making others feel like they are at home no matter what (rain, sleet, snow, bad day, etc.)!

I was introduced to distance education learning when I began at NCCU. Online learning has allowed me the flexibility to work full time, parent, and remain a full time student. The new technology that has been introduced to me through virtual learning has given me necessary skills for both my future and current employment. I believe virtual learning is the way of the future and is likely to see major changes overtime.

Now working at Holiday Inn Express I am aspiring to land a career in hospitality management in the coming years.
