Vaibhav P. Pai
I am currently a Postdoctoral Associate at Tufts University's Center for Regenerative and Developmental Biology, in the laboratory of Dr. Michael Levin.
Since graduate school, my interest has been towards studying development and regeneration of organ systems and particularly the role of biophysical forces in this process.
The continued current effort is towards understanding the spatial information (3-D shape and structure) and temporal information (signal patterns that carry information) detected, remembered and processed by the cells and tissues towards formation of organs like the nervous system. Projects also include development, regeneration and plasticity of brain information and somatic information.
Further applications of this work are in research and development in synthetic biology, interaction between biological and machine systems, artificial life and developing smarter machine systems.
