Paloma Castro
Teacher in Valladolid, España
Hello, I´m Paloma and I live in the beautiful city of Valladolid. I started teaching at the Faculty of Education a long time ago. I love teaching. It gives me every year the opportunity to start a new project with my students, learning from their reactions, and sharing the ambition or dream to make things change through education. Yes, I believe in Education and the role it plays for human development. And we all, educators, have a word to say, in this on-going and challenging process.
This year we have a new opportunity to develop ourselves as educators and future educators thanks to Telecollaboration. I find fascinating the idea of working together far beyond the boundaries of our classroom in, let´s say, an international setting.
I am very fond of internationalization initiatives in the field of education. During a period of my professional life I was in charge of the Erasmus and mobility programmes at my faculty, not only for students but also for staff. It was great to welcome international students and teachers to the faculty and also to encourage our students to experience mobility. I felt myself as an ambassador! And it was so satisfying seeing a change in the students because of their international experience.
I have been an international student myself in United States and France. Maybe this experience guided my professional life, always eager to travel and meet new people. That´s why I firmly believe in CLIL as an opportunity to see things from another perspective, the perspective we get through languages to get knowledge. It seems to me as having other lenses that give us a more extended and rich vision of our experience.
Welcome to iCLIL and I hope you enjoy the experience!!
