Panama

We have booked the American Trade Hotel in the charming Casco Viejo neighborhood for Jan 24, 2015 in Panama City, Panama!

It's a gorgeous historic building that Ace Hotel completely renovated and opened just last month. We can block off 40 of the 50 rooms for the weekend so we will basically have the boutique hotel to ourselves (we are currently negotiating rates at several hotels, so don't book anything yet!). It's an open property in the middle - similar to a Riad in Morocco which means we can enjoy being in the fresh air without the sun being directly on us. There's also a terrace and small pool when we want to cool off.

January is the dry season for Panama so we are planning to have the reception on the rooftop which has a lovely breeze and overlooks Casco Viejo and the Pacific Ocean. And for people who want some different scenery before or after the wedding, there are gorgeous beaches and rain forests only a short drive away. The wedding will be the weekend after Martin Luther King Day so hopefully that gives people more of a chance to travel. And, of course, there's the Panama Canal which everyone should experience at least once.

It feels like a perfect blend of our styles and is a unique and intimate space for us to celebrate. We feel so lucky to have stumbled upon it and are very excited to celebrate with our family and friends next year! More details to come soon...
