George Papavasileiou

I hold a Diploma (combined BSc. & MSc.) in Civil Engineering from the Democritus University of Thrace (2007) and a MSc. in “New Materials and New Technologies in Reinforced Concrete Design with emphasis on Earthquake Engineering” from the same University. Since spring semester 2009-2010 I am a Doctoral Candidate in Civil Engineering at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering of the University of Cyprus, where I prepare my doctoral thesis in the field of steel and concrete composite structures. My scientific interest is in the fields of computational engineering, structural mechanics, progressive collapse, seismic design and retrofit of buildings. Parallel to my research, I enjoy getting involved in relative associations. However, being really passionate about their voluntary activities, I always end up getting a leading role! In my leisure, I enjoy traveling, playing squash, swimming, sailing, surfing on the internet, listening to music, and repairing my old car!!!
