After 25+ years doing portrait photography, I returned to school & earned a M.S. in Social Gerontology. With that degree came an opportunity to work in a continuum of care living facility and experience developing a new hospice for that senior community. From there, I used my photography background, gerontology education, work experience and creative juices to develop, publish & market a brand new product - The Hospice Volunteer Training Series. I saw the need for a core curriculum to be used in training hospice volunteers. Piloted in 2006, the training was successful. Revamped for a broader market, I introduced it in the Fall of 2007. Now, nearly 700 Hospices across the Country have purchased materials from our Series. I am known now as the Hospice Tutor. We are finding that not only does it work for training hospice volunteers, but some programs use the Series to orient new staff & contractors to the non-medical aspects of their roles. In addition, volunteers & staff in other helping organizations can benefit from the topics we cover. Visit our website to learn more: www.hospicetutor.com
