Pat Mundt
Bern, Switzerland
Americana, Texas boogie, blues rock, country and rockabilly are the specialities of Berne based guitarist Pat Mundt. In the Swiss music scene Pat is anything but an unknown quantity. He has made his mark as a bandleader as well as a studio musician and sideman. His own projects include the 80s new wave outfit Vakuum, the Texas blues trio Hillbillies From Outerspace (with Bruno Dietrich) and in the 90s the Bernese all star Beatles cover band „Backbeat“ (with members of Span, Züri West, Phon Roll and Boob). With Van Dango (Marianna Polistena, Thomas Wild, Mauro Zompicchiatti) he recently counted on Americana-influenced songs with a straightforward attitude. Pat found his name on one bill with the Stray Cats at Blue Balls Festival Lucerne and played for thousands of (football) fans at the European Championship 2008.With Pat Mundt’s Custom Club, Pat has now put together his own power trio. For his new project he could win over an unequalled rhythm section: bass player Felix Müller played with Gianna Nannini, Toni Vescoli, the late soul goddess Sandra Goldner and the Swiss punk veteran The Bucks, to name only a few. Drummer Tom Beck worked the kit for the likes of Gölä, Florian Ast, Philipp Fankhauser and Jammin. Together with Felix Müller he also accompanies British guitar player Paul Camilleri. Currently the triumvirate works on a repertoire. Pat will increasingly take over the role of the singer again and a handful of new songs is waiting in the pipeline. Those who know Pat, know what’s expecting them: Uncompromising rock music, bursting with energy and inspired by people like Charlie Sexton, David Grissom or the Mavericks. Just Texas sounds really, combined with Mundt’s unmistakable sense of pop hooks though, and a dash of vintage rock’n’roll.Prepare yourself for some real custom club nights - real musicians, real sweat and real dancing.
