TO HAVE AT LEAST TEN GRANDCHILDREN AND BE THE MATRIARCH OF A DYNASTY.BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION Patricia Bernard left Australia when she was nineteen. During the next 30 years she sailed up the Nile; worked in Berlin during the closing of the Berlin Wall; met Mohammed the 5th of Morocco in the Sahara Desert; travelled through Alaska in winter in a sports car; fell in love with a Spanish matador. Married in Jamaica; hitch-hiked with her one year old daughter around Japan and Korea just after the Korean war; became stranded on the Niagara Falls Bridge without a passport; visited Lhasa in Tibet; was among the first Australians to visit Red China in the seventies and was the first N.S.W. resident given a visa for Cuba. She has visited and or worked in 98 countries. Patricia married in Jamaica and while there she opened an art gallery, she also taught English to adult students in the local evening college. Patricia now lives in a convict built house. She has three daughters, one son and two silky terrier watchdogs. She loves travel, science fiction, children and cinema. She visits over 100 Australian and New Zealand schools a year performing writing workshops and speaking to children and teenagers about how writing can be fun, but also that it is the most important tool they will need to survive in the adult world. She has also given writers workshops in adult evening colleges and the Rozelle Writers Centre. Patricia is a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators. Patricia speaks French and can get by in Italian, German, and Spanish. Being able to sketch she has never found the lack of a language a barrier. Her next holiday is to Ethiopia, Jordan and Syria. This will bring her countries up to 100.
