Amherst, Massachusetts

Hello Everyone!

My name is Patrick Lia, and I am currently a student at the Isenberg School of Management, University of Massachusetts-Amherst. I am from Morristown, New Jersey, and am currently a junior, Finance Major in the best business school in the country! As well as being a student here at UMass, I have also been blessed with the opportunity to play the sport that I have been so passionately involved in since I was a little boy, Baseball. Being a member of the UMass Baseball Team has been one of the greatest experiences of my life. Throughout my time with the program, I have been able to make a bunch of incredible friends, travel all over the country, and also play the game I love each and every day.

In addition to playing baseball at UMass, I have greatly enjoyed being a part of the Isenberg School of Management's Finance program. Finance is a subject that I have been very passionate about for quite some time now, and I feel that my interest for the subject can be traced all the way back to the times when I was in middle-school trying to take as many math courses as possible. Ever since I was a young student, math has always been a strong point for me, and I feel that is why it has translated into my love for Finance. And it is my hope to eventually one day pursue this passion, and to hopefully work for a top firm on Wall Street.

As well as spending most of my time at school or at practice, I still feel it is necessary to give back to others who are less fortunate. Providing community service is something that I have taken great pride in over the years, and am thankful for every opportunity that I have been able to give back. For example, I have been a part of a program in New Jersey, called Special Needs Athletic Program (SNAP), for the past 5 years. This program provides children with autism the opportunity to find joy through the outlet of sports. And ever since I joined the program, I have been grateful for being to able have met so many inspirational children, and I constantly look forward to attending each session to see what other amazing experiences that the program has in store for me.

And so, being an Isenberg student, a part of the baseball team, and a member of SNAP are all things that I am greatly proud of and am blessed to be able to do. And even though my time at UMass feels like it is quickly flying by, I am confident that the best is yet to come!

All the Best!
