I will never forget what he stated to me on the way back to the Club-house after another illustrious emergency-nine! "Patrick, Humor and Wisdom are brothers… brothers born from the loins of the same old bitch." Lord did he have a way with words.

Sheepishly a twenty fell out of my leather and into the gnarled hand of my octogenarian, golfing sage. Oh, I earned that ice cold Harp. If one accepts, missing a three-footer on the last hole as "earned." I guess I earned the tongue lashing at home as well, two hours tardy, again. I didn't care. I just loved to be near his wit; mentally recording another one of his tales. I guess we all pay at some point.

On he went, enthralling all the cranks within ear shot. Thoughtless interruptions were abandoned like Pinnacles, deep in the woods.

I find it intriguing however; he always resolved his yarns with one of my favorite lines, which ironically came from a movie I'm certain he never saw. His high pitch, cockney accent scolded, "Ye had enough?” Sipping the head off his lager, “Or are you thirsty for more?"

God, I hope he lives another week. This isn't golf… “tis therapy! Yes it tis.”
