Toronto-based businessman and entrepreneur Patrick Dovigi is the founder and owner of Green For Life Environmental Inc. (GFL), a multi-sector environmental services company with headquarters in Toronto.

Patrick Dovigi grew up in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario and demonstrated an early aptitude for hockey goal-tending as a teenager. In 1997, Patrick fulfilled the dream of many Canadian teenagers when he was drafted by the Edmonton Oilers.

Prior to establishing GFL, Patrick served as President for a Canadian environmental services firm from 2004 to 2007. Patrick also held Vice President positions at Brovi Investments from 2002 to 2004 and Right Lease, a construction equipment and automotive leasing company, from 1998 to 2002. In addition, Patrick served as a director for NGTV (“No Good TV”), a music and celebrity news channel, for six years, starting in 2004.

Patrick attended Toronto’s Ryerson University in 2000.

In 2007, Patrick founded GFL with a goal of bringing greater sustainability to the environmental services sector. By purchasing smaller companies specializing in specific environmental solution areas, Patrick was able to quickly grow GFL’s reach into a variety of industry sectors.

GFL provides a broad range of environmental services. In addition to servicing solid residential waste needs, GFL offers commercial and institutional solutions in the areas of industrial waste, site excavation, and soil remediation.

Under Patrick’s leadership, GFL has grown to service all Canadian provinces except Prince Edward Island. The company has also been recognized as one of Canada’s fastest growing environmental services companies with approximately 2,700 employees.

In addition to heading GFL, Patrick serves as a director on Ontario Waste Management Association's (OWMA) board.
