Patrick Foulis currently serves as the New York bureau chief and U.S. business editor of the Economist magazine. He is also an award-winning economic commentator with expertise in Asian business and financial crises. In 2012, along with four other colleagues, Patrick Foulis won a Gerald Loeb Award for his coverage of the Eurozone crisis.

Before he began his career in financial journalism and commentary, Patrick Foulis worked as a financial analyst for UBS Warburg. There, his team stood out for its cogent analysis of European telecoms.

Following his tenure at UBS Warburg, Mr. Foulis went to work at the Financial Times as a financial editor, with a focus on analyses of the global economy and business climate. He began writing for the Economist in 2008. He won a UK Institutional Press Award in 2015 for his editorial commentary.

Alongside his work as an editor and writer, Patrick Foulis has appeared as a financial commentator on MSNBC, CNN, the BBC, and CNBC, providing analyses on such economic issues as the Greek debt crisis and the Trans-Pacific Partnership.
