Patrick J. Killian
My work has been a constant progression over the last 25 yrs I studied at Carmarthenshire College of Technology & Art and graduated with a distinction in Fine Art/ illustration in 1995. My initial work was published as a range of Greeting Cards for Royal Publications and Gluvian Galleries. My passion for boxing in my teens and early 20's inspired me to produce a range of boxing paintings which were published as a range of Limited Edition Prints in 2005. Soon after this I went into self publishing, producing my own Limited Editions for various Sporting Events and Testimonials. I was commissioned in 2006 by James J. Houlihan the American Curator of the successful World Tour Exhibition - The Fighting Irishmen. The Exhibition travelled since its inception in New York in 2006, The South Seaport Museum, New York in 2007, Boston College 2008, Ulster American Folk Park Museum 2009, Dublin Croke Park Museum in 2010 Limerick, Ireland in April 2011 before finishing in Pheonix Arizona in 2013. The exhibit included 4 of my paintings. Over the last few years I have painted on many sporting and charity events raising many thousands for various charities. In 2009 my Jenson Button painting raised £6,000 for the Make a Wish Childrens Charity. I have since worked with some of the biggest names in sport over the last few years including Muhammad Ali's Celebrity Fight Night charity event in Pheonix Arizona. My latest works consist of various icons painted in a style that I call contemporary realism, with only using a limited pallete of colour. The distinctive blue in the works, for me make the image pop out, highlighting the shadows. Some people have already mentioned that seeing my work they instinctively know it's a Killian ~ I feel that after 25 years of progression I may have found my own style and identity as an artist. I am open to paint all subjects to commission ~ Please contact the gallery for information
