Patrick Kenneally (State's Attorney)
Assistant State's Attorney in Illinois
After graduating cum laude from College of the Holy Cross with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, Patrick Kenneally of McHenry County, Illinois, earned his Juris Doctor at Washington University's School of Law, a U.S. News and World Report top-20 law school located in St. Louis, Missouri. While at Washington University, Mr. Kenneally participated as a member of the Trial Team and helped the team finish second at the Trial Lawyers of America Student Trial Advocacy Competition for the Midwest region. Patrick Kenneally also served as a student lawyer at the university's Interdisciplinary Environmental Clinic and assisted several nonprofits with their legal arguments for improving the environmental standards of a proposed Missouri cement plant. He coauthored a brief on the proposal that was submitted to the Missouri Supreme Court, as well.
In addition to his work with nonprofits, Patrick Kenneally held several summer law clerk positions while in school, including working at the Criminal Trials Bureau of the Illinois Attorney General's Office, the Center for Disability and Elder Law, and at the Cook County Public Defenders' Office in Chicago, Illinois. While at Cook County, Mr. Kenneally handled cases assigned to him under the supervision of a public defender and managed all preparation and trial work for his clients' cases.
Currently, Patrick Kenneally serves as Assistant State's Attorney in the Felony Division of Illinois' State's Attorney's Office in McHenry County. Mr. Kenneally has personally tried over 40 cases in front of the county's juries and another 60 bench trials, which have covered a variety of felony and misdemeanor charges, including driving under the influence, narcotics, reckless homicide, and domestic battery, as well as white-collar crimes.
