Patrick Molicard-Chartier
education developer and information professional in Toronto, ON, Canada
Bonjour et bienvenue ! Hello and welcome!
At Université de l'Ontario français, my role as Senior Educational Developer advances techno-pedagogical teaching and learning supports, emphasizing the creation of innovative educational programs and faculty development. Leading a team, I work to enhance teaching and learning through technology and research-informed strategies. Our mission is to nurture a culture of continuous learning and curiosity, enabling educators to excel in their teaching and learning practices.
Reflecting on my previous tenure as an lead Educational Developer at York University’s Lassonde School of Engineering, I lead various initiatives in STEM education development, including the lead pedagogical development of Canada's first fully work-integrated-learning degree program. It's a passion for me to merge quantitative and qualitative research and program planning to foster environments where learning thrives. I see myself as an information professional and as such, I apply my knowledge of information use environments to a variety of knowledge and cultural institutions, including universities and colleges, libraries and museums.
My work is focused on program creation and development; curriculum (re)design; work role mentorship and development; and the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning all with a lens of decolonization, equity, diversity, and inclusion. My career goals are to support the development of learning initiatives, while fostering inquiry, productivity, and lifelong learning by providing individuals with information, resources and opportunities educators need in order to develop their skills and to perform their work to their fullest potential through equitable and inclusive teaching and learning practices.
My research background is on Information Behaviour, Information Use Environments and Human-Information Interaction with a specific focus on how teaching and learning professionals access, use, and share information and resources; how resources are applied to satisfy a particular goal; and how an organization's structure either impedes or promotes this kind of teaching and learning work. My career work is inspired by Isto Huvila’s (2013) notable work on “How a museum knows? Structures, work roles, and information work” and Diane Sonnenwald’s (2001) “Information Horizons”.
