As a student in the political science program at the University of Vermont, from which he graduated in 2012, Patrick Milliken gained professional experience as a campaign intern for Jim Condos, who was running for secretary of state in Vermont. In this role, Patrick Milliken distributed literature to donors and voters in such communities as Burlington and Jericho.

While pursuing his studies, the undergraduate balanced his academic commitments with duties as a restaurant server at Trader Dukes, located near Jericho.
