This is my first year/first semester at Kent State University. I graduated in 2001 with a BA in Elementary Education. I worked 7 years as a college admissions counselor and for the last 5 years at the Mt. Orab Branch Library. The first 3 years I worked as the children's associate, which meant two storytimes, an afterschool program, family programs, and outreach for ages infant through teens. Two years ago I had the opportunity to move up to branch manager and I had to take it. I loved working with the children but working at a small rural library you do not get paid much. I still get a chance to work with the kids sometimes but now I get to work with EVERYONE :) And solve all world (ok library) problems. I love my job and hope to retire from there.

I have been married for 9 1/2 years and have two energetic boys (5 and 7 yo) When I am not working....I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, cooking and being outside. I also teach Sunday School to toddlers. I very rarely had the chance to go to the library when I was kid except the school library, but when I did it was better than visiting a toy store. I hope to pass that feeling along some how.

I'm looking forward to taking this journey with you all!

Side note for all of you that want to be a children's librarian a good incentive for kids to read is to let them cream you with a pie, or dye your hair whatever color they pick if they read more this summer then last summer (note the blue hair)
