Emily Patterson
Hi, my name is of course as you can see Emily Patterson.
I am a second year Business Management and Entrepreneurship student at Algonquin College and so far I have enjoyed the program for all that I have and will be getting out of it. Originally I attended Niagara College in their Broadcasting: Radio, TV and Film program. It was super interesting but not for me. I learned a lot there about the broadcasting business and therefore I realized that I am interested in running a business, just not sure which kind.
Being an entrepreneur kind of runs in my family but they have all worked really hard to get to where they are. Not only do I aspire to be successful like those in my family but I want to be successful for myself.
I am a very outgoing individual. It is rare that I am not smiling or laughing or talking. I am very tech savy which is like most individuals around my age. You pretty much need to be if you want to get anywhere.
I currently work as a supervisor/key holder at Bulk Barn and I do enjoy my job. It is not a huge store but the people are super nice and the owner is amazing. I work tonnes of hours for him and he notices unlike other places. He appreciates what I have done and that makes me feel good as an employee. There is nothing worse than doing so much for a company and them not even noticing.
I do believe that I want to be in Intrapreneur rather than an Entrepreneur because I love helping a business do better. I am always thinking of ways to better/improve something. Whether it is something as small as making an easier to read list of codes for cashiers. I find pride in doing so even if it benefits at least one person.
I am an incredibly hard worker and usually bite more then I can chew but that is all a part of growing. I learned that being in school and telling my work that I could work full time hours took a major hit on my marks. I am not a brainiac but, I have always maintained slightly above average marks, which is not easy to do while working full time.
I love working and I could not see myself not working in a career even if I was financially able to do so. I just wouldn't feel right.
Two quotes I live by:
