Patti O'Brien-Richardson, PhD, MS. Ed
Consultant and Researcher in Newark, New Jersey
I develop culturally sensitive health and wellness curriculum for students, institutions, and scholars.
For the past 10 years, I have developed health education and obesity prevention curriculum with a sociocultural lens to address urban health disparities, toxic stress stemming from racial and social injustice, and body image stereotypes among women and girls of color.
From working in sub-Saharan Africa for over 10 years leading intercontinental humanitarian projects, to my "Hair: Culture, Politics, and Technology" course at New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), and most recently as the Interim CEO at the Rutgers Community Health Center, a federally qualified health center in Newark, New Jersey, my work has allowed me to impact communities, students, institutions, and fellow academics.
