Paul Alan Smith
Agent, Director Manager, and Director in Los Angeles, CA
Paul Alan Smith is an entertainment professional currently representing film and television directors. Born in Los Angeles and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, he spent his youth with an up-close view of the political and social activism of the 60s and 70s. That influence, along with his childhood love for the musical “Hair”, helped him decide to pursue a career in entertainment that could also help influence social change.
To accomplish this, he studied theater at UCLA and NYU and also supplemented his formal education by traveling the world and becoming exposed to a number of different cultures. After his travels, he moved to Los Angeles with the goal of bringing his long-held dream to Hollywood.
In this pursuit, Paul Alan Smith worked his way up from the mailroom at Triad Artists, a prominent agency at the time. He would eventually move on to work as an agent, a manager, and an entertainment executive. In each of these roles, he has worked to encourage an awareness of how individual actions can have a widespread impact on social change.
The longtime entertainment professional has now opened up a new firm, New Deal Mfg. Co., alongside business partner Lee Rosenbaum. The firm will work to advance the careers of film and television directors while serving as an agency and management company, according to the needs of individual clients.
