Paul Cuddihy

Paul Cuddihy is an environmental consultant based in Ireland. Since completing his MA in GIS and Coastal Management he has worked as a GIS technician and consultant on numerous projects as well as being a member of academic staff at the National University of Ireland Maynooth.
Through these roles he has gained considerable experience and expertise in both the theoretical and practical approaches to many computerised modelling and database systems. Most notably GIS through dataset acquisition, (Trimble TSC2 / RTK, Garman GPS60 and OVI GeoTagging) and database development, production and maintenance ( ERSI’s ArcGIS 9 and 10, MapInfo, Google Maps, Open Layers and Google Earth Pro), whilst also gaining a working knowledge of AutoCAD.
His experience in the above mentioned roles has been developed through both academic and professional research and projects in a variety of areas, such as:
• Developing an Integrated Coastal Zone Management Strategy for Ballycotton Co. Cork and Tramore Strand Co. Waterford.
• The production of a series of facies maps and data sets as part of ship based training for ground truthing and remote sensing devices in the Celtic Sea.
• Carrying out site selection processes and statistical analyses for healthcare facilities.
• Monitoring and mapping protected species sightings along the Irish Coastline.
• Examining satellite imagery and the updating of vector data associated with the Single Payment Scheme implemented by the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine for the EU Single Payment Scheme.
In addition he has given a large number of academic presentations and classes on numerous environmental topics.
