Have you always wanted to discover more about your family's origins?

Is there a rumour of a famous ancestor in the family?

Have you inherited a family heirloom and want to know more about the person who originally owned it?

Perhaps there is a family secret waiting to be discovered?

Do you want documentary evidence for information you already have?

My name is Paul Ellis and I work as a Family History Researcher concentrating on the county of Nottinghamshire in England.

I have lived in Nottingham all my life and have been researching family history, including my own for over 10 years.

I also host a web site for ex-residents of the Old Meadows area of Nottingham, which was demolished in the 1970s as well as administrating several family history Facebook Groups.

My customers are people who find it hard to make personal visits to the archives for reasons of distance, time or expense.

They may have come to a "brick wall" and are unable to find that elusive ancestor or they don't know how to start their research.

I am based near Nottingham City Centre and have easy access to the Nottinghamshire Archives and the Local Studies Library. My work is not restricted to the city, however, as I am central to the rest of the county. I am well placed to visit most of the churches and cemeteries in the area to find your ancestors and photograph their last resting place. I will also transcribe the wording on the gravestone if requested.

I can also visit local libraries and institutions throughout the county to search out information about your ancestors

Please feel free to contact me to discuss your requirements.

A written price quote will be given before any work is undertaken. This will detail all costs including extras and expenses, such as travel and any extra photocopies or photographs.

LOCATION PHOTOGRAPHY

If you want a photographic record of locations relevant to your family history Nottinghamshire Families can also provide a photographic service to record gravestones, churches, war memorials or any building relevant to your family history together, where possible, with a full transcription of the engraving on the stones and position in the cemetery etc.

Photographs are taken digitally and saved on to disk or emailed as an attachment in your preferred format for you to print out yourself. Please email for details of prices and formats of photographs.
