Technologist with a penchant for everything Science.

Throughout my eclectic career, I’ve dabbled in everything from culturing keratinocytes ( skin cells sourced from .. I’d rather not say) to setting up computer backup systems. I was the second person to ever undertake running Oracle Financials on an SGI (crazy, I know.. now). While playing pharmaceutical scientist, I measured the molecular weight of hydroxylated starch using formulas developed by Einstein. That included maintaining the laser to measure those very starch molecules. I’ve snapped photos of cellular bits smaller than 22 nm that had absolutely nothing to do with my thesis. I’ve even had a long term aquatic affair studying Anthopleura xanthogrammica (the Pacific Green Sea Anemone, for those not on a first-name basis).

My adventures have included writing articles for a the defunct publication Scientific and Engineering News, and co-authoring a few scientific papers. I’ve served on the board of a nonprofit focused on establishng Good Life Science Practices which would help pharmaceutical companies streamline the drug validation process. Much like my startups, that group is now defunct. I lspent several years leading a group responsible for an impressive array of customers and servers at a large Pharma company. For fun, I mussed over the idea of starting a brewery and ended up brewing a few award-winning beers. I’ve mentored high school students, and co-founded not one but two startups (both of which, in keeping with tradition, are also defunct). Oh, and I grew a beard which fllourishes today.

Currently, my focus is on investing with my intrests including PreIPO, Stocks, ETFs, Mutual Funds, Crypto and perhaps even casks of Whisky—jury’s still out on that one. I enjoy travel (though I firmly believe boats are just a pestulence delivery modality.), spending time with family, tinkering, and making pizza.

My goals that forever haunt me include: Restoring an Eico preamp and two amps, bringing a Frankenstein CJ-2A from 1942 to 1946 to life, getting my kids into investing, loving my wife (easy), and traveling. That seems like enough to keep me out of trouble… for now.
