My success is based on my many failures.
Experience is the name we all give to our mistakes.
-- Oscar Wilde
I am resilient, self motivated, and determined. Some people find me funny, creative, and imaginative. I have a good eye. I am an artist, photographer, photo editor/researcher, and book designer. I understand how to select images to communicate ideas. I enjoy the process of building a book, seeing what happens when one photo speaks to the next and building upon this visual rhythm much like a song or poem. When selecting images for clients I try to keep in mind their specific taste, needs, nuance and brand narrative. I understand copyright issues.
I am visually promiscuous; I will look at books, album covers, carpets, cars, oil paintings, ceramics, jelly fish, travel snap shots, photographs, dinosaurs, photo albums, hats, jewelry design, it all interests me. I read the business section of the newspaper. I like paper ephemera.
I have over 20 years experience working as a photo editor/photo researcher in NYC publishing. My last gig in NYC was at The New Yorker for four years. Yes, it was hard to leave the mother ship. Based in Boulder, CO since 2008. Currently, I freelance as a photo researcher, book designer and work on my own book projects. A strong photo editor I can organize and sequence photographs from a large body of work (images) for web, gallery show, book projects etc. I photograph people, document events, and do still life photography. I also do copy work, scanning, retouching, color correction and pre press as needed.
I like cats, my husband, getting lost in a museum, and getting enough sleep.
