Paula Nelson MD

Paula Nelson, MD, is a well established cosmetic dermatologist who practiced at Atlanta's Family Dermatology, P.C., for two decades. A member of the American Academy of Dermatology, Paula Nelson, MD, diagnoses and treats a wide range of chronic conditions, from actinic keratoses to fungal infections of the skin. She undertakes skin examinations and performs incisional biopsies in suspected cases of melanoma.

Dr. Nelson offers advanced treatments such as Mohs micrographic surgery, which spares healthy tissue while ensuring the removal of all tumorous cells for patients with squamous cell and basal cell carcinomas. She is also experienced in aesthetic procedures such as skin tightening through Cutera and Thermage.

Dr. Nelson completed her bachelor of science in biochemistry at the City College of New York and earned a doctor of medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. She undertook residency training at the Washington University Medical Center/Barnes Hospital in St. Louis and took on responsibilities as chief resident in dermatology. Paula Nelson, MD, has published widely in her field and co-authored the paper “Nonspecific Histopathological Diagnoses: The impact of partial biopsy and the need for a consensus guideline” (JAMA Dermatology, Nov 2013).
