Problem solving Systems Engineer and Program Manager with 3 decades experience in medical device development.

Broad experience in technical leadership, program/product management, product development, V&V, operations, regulatory compliance and customer support.

Paul has a wide range of technical and management skills with particular emphasis on project management, systems analysis, real-time software development, risk management and user interaction design.

He has managed teams of 40 engineers in multiple disciplines (software, electronic, mechanical, packaging, industrial design, documentation and Q/A) with responsibility for scheduling, budgeting, hiring, training and mentoring.

Professional Experience

Paul began his career developing instrumentation for use in pulmonary physiology and critical care medicine research for UC San Diego Medical School.

This was followed by leadership roles at medical device companies (Imed, MiniMed, Alaris) specializing in drug delivery.

Paul has been a consultant to numerous companies developing medical devices (e.g. cardiac defibrillators, surgical robots, blood analysers, needleless injectors, insulin pumps, hyperbaric chambers), as well as IVD devices and consumables.

He has also been involved in developing products for consumer use in wireless/telecommunications applications, and scientific instrumentation (e.g. high speed aerospace and nautical data acquisition systems)
