I am Paula Mottern. I worked as Home Improvement Estimator. I provide quotes for the anticipated cost of construction work on residential properties. During a construction project I may also have to manage costs. This profession is typically required to have a bachelor's degree in construction science or related field and experience working in the construction industry.

My duties is estimating costs for a residential construction-project is a multi-step process. I start by visiting the job site and recording any germane details, like room dimensions, utility access and more. I then factor in the costs of all the materials their firm must provide, as well as labor, equipment and any other business-related expenses, such as taxes and overhead. At this stage of the process, I also consider any subcontractors their company may require. Upon completion, I submit a bid proposal to their firm's owner.
