Paula Vargas Charry
Hi and welcome to my professional blog!
My name is Paula, I come from Mexico City (yeah! one of the largest cities in the world) and have been living in Norway for 7 years. I hold a Bachelor in International Relations at Tec de Monterrey and a Master in Globalization from NTNU, Norway.
I am deeply interested in the blending of the local with the global, an obvious expression of a globalized world. For instance, the norwegian "taco" is an appropiation of the famous mexican dish, into the Norwegian culture and eating habits of this country (Norwegians add vegetables and cream) A bit far away from the real mexican tacos, but still enjoyable :) Living abroad has been such an enriching experience!
The idealist in me, believe that my personal effort can have an impact in someone's life for the better. I am interested in development strategies and projects, especially the bottom-up approach (grassroots) and the power of civil society to create change. There is much to do in a world full of challenges such as the one we face today. Other areas of interest are cross cultural communication, social entrepreneurship, CSR, environment, immigration and international law.
The entrepreneurial woman in me is interested in networking, sharing ideas, building projects, learning new things and getting new skills. I'm recently exploring the world of startups, business development and innovation and feeling part of a synergy of creative minds is a source of inspiration for me.
My strengths
I am optimistic, very persistent and determined to achieve my goals. If I fall 7 times, I raise up 8. I have my rushes of creativity from time to time and I am a problem solver, I like to think of fresh ways to overcome challenges. I am a people's person and therefore I enjoy meeting and learning from people with diverse backgrounds and cultures. I tend to be diplomatic and have good negotiation and persuasion skills.
My value proposition
As an internationalist, I can use my skills and background to offer you:
- Rising cultural awareness of business practices while trying to expand to international markets, especially in Latin America
- Doing international sales and negotiations in Spanish and English speaking countries
- Market research and feasibility studies on different topics.
- National- international events coordination
