Paul Delos Santos

Well, it’s interesting. I never thought about talking about myself, but I guess this is what this page is for. So I will talk about myself. If you get bored, go ahead and click the little X on the top right corner and close this window, or the back button. I was born in Las Vegas, NV on Sept. 6, 1986 to Jessica and Arnel Delos Santos. Then my family decided that Las Vegas wasn’t the place for us, so my mom and dad decided to take me to the Bay Area before my second birthday. I spent the next 14 years in the Bay Area, where I learned to love sports and various other forms of entertainment. However, it was there that I discovered my love for writing. I kept writing and writing and as a second grader I remember trying to start a school newspaper for elementary kids (needless to say, it didn’t work, but I did earn extra credit for it). In fifth grade, I turned short stories into mini booklets, that my teacher enjoyed reading. I still remember what I wrote about back then – time traveling. I had a pretty uneventful middle school experience, with nothing that stood out. I spent one year at Westmoor High School before my mom decided it was time to move back to Las Vegas because it was cheap to live there. I spent the next three years of my life at Coronado High School and just trying to get by with the minimum requirements to go to UNLV. I wound up at UNLV and my first week in school started writing for the student paper - The Rebel Yell. I spent three and a half years at UNLV and Yell, serving as it’s sports editor from May 2006 to December 2007. I have also contributed to other publications around the Las Vegas Valley. I graduated from UNLV in December 2007 with a degree in Journalism and Media Studies. I applied for three jobs and got the first place I sent an application to in Cedar City, Utah. I am a sports writer forThe Spectrum and Daily News where I cover everything from high school prep sports to Dixie State basketball. My goal is to write for a major publication one day, and hopefully it will come one day. When I’m not writing, I like to play video games, listen to music and play poker.
