Paul Gent is a visual artist and works extensively within the community including in schools, universities, community centres and within the criminal justice system. Paul empathetically challenges young people and adults on social issues, along with the problems and prejudices caused by them. Using art, such as cartoon, mural, personal mapping and popular board and card games, Paul works hands-on through such challenging issues as migration, crime prevention and community cohesion. By sharing ideas and suggestions, Paul aims for an organically driven process which allows the participants to feel ownership over the art work produced. Paul also uses cartoon documentation to record projects. This process has often been a preferred way of recording for its immediacy, unobtrusiveness and anonymity.
