I work for msnbc.com, where I am currently employed as a Platform Architect. We are responsible for the content management and publishing system that powers the MSNBC family of websites, including cnbc.com, nbcsports.com, todayshow.com, plus a whole host of other high profile news sites. Our publishing platform serves over 2.5 billion page views per month with over 99.95% site availability. And while we use a lot of Microsoft technologies, we also integrate with some of our acquisitions who run on Linux. There's a whole host of technological challenges associated with keeping a high volume site running 24X7 with content that rapidly changes (ie the news), and that's what gets me up and going to work every morning.
