Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada

Hailing from a fine art background Paul Maher works on interdisciplinary projects in the fields of art, visual communication and planning. A underlying theme throughout all his work is one of connection; in particular the connection between human cultures and land use.

Paul has a particular interest in how complex connections are established between people and their environment and may be interpreted through different modes of representation; be it artistic expression or designed visualizations. Currently, a dominant focus of his practice is on the benefit of creative visualization to assist in planning decision making.

Paul's fine art has been exhibited internationally and his work is held in a range of public and private collections. His current practice involves working collaboratively with a number of Government and non-Government agencies to generate discussion on adaptation planning and coastal management issues.

Paul Maher's main role is as an educator to students studying art, design and planning. In this capacity he has taught at a number of institutions including NSCAD, Dalhousie University, The Australian Academy of Design and the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology.
