Translator, what’s that?
As a child, I was always fascinated by languages and tried very hard to understand the strange utterances of foreigners. I also dreamt of becoming an engineer and building engines, but languages ultimately won.
I decided to enrol in a translation course with a focus on technical and technological subjects.
I completed the undergraduate course in Translation in 1997, at ISLA in Lisbon.
Since then, I worked directly in several localisation projects for Microsoft, namely Windows 98 and Office Suite 98, into Portuguese. Then, I flew to Bilbao to integrate a multinational team of technical translators.
Afterwards, I was the sole responsible for the implementation of the first Trados CAT tool representation in Portugal.
At some point I decided to go as a freelance translator, it was nice to disassemble engines when translation projects were at a low pace.
For a short period, I assumed the role of Translation Manager at Electronic Arts. I played really hard but it was really worth it.
Sometime afterwards, I created my own language service provider company along with two other business partners and I managed to bring some premium customers to the company.
In 2017, I created a new language service provider company focusing on the technical and technological industry.
Briefly, during my career, I’ve experienced many different roles that provided me with a better understanding of the translation industry.
I really enjoy team working and listening to the different ideas that can arise when trying to find the best solution for that special client. Are you one of my clients? Then, you are special too!
