The first car race I ever went to was the Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta. I had no idea what to expect and I was taken aback by the roar of engines as the cars passed by on the first lap and ever since then I was hooked on Le Mans racing. I was drawn to it by the complexity of the sport, teams could have either a winning strategy, a fast car, a skilled driver, or a splash of luck to win a race. Every race would have me emotionally invested to the point of heartbreak if my team came up short, which taught me a lot about adversity and overcoming it as my team would shake it off and be ready for the next race. Every year, I became more and more invested in the sport, which led to me wanting to somehow get involved in the industry in the future, therefore, I chose mechanical engineering as my major to hopefully one day become one of the brilliant race engineers mapping out strategies, fine tuning the car, working with drivers and perhaps bringing a bit of luck to help my team overcome the adversity I watched them deal while I was growing up.
