Paul Rauscher

I was born and raised as a Lutheran in the Dakotas. It wasn’t until after I had joined the military and was stationed in Germany, that I attended a revival in 1973 and realized that I was a sinner, repented and gave my life to Jesus. I am not perfect, but I try to use the Bible as my guide as I live my life.

I married my wife, Dee Dee, in Germany in 1976, and we returned there two more times. During one of those tours, in around 1980, I was ordained a deacon at Bethel Baptist Church in Frankfurt.

Dee Dee and I have eight children, two daughters-in-law, and nine grandchildren. In 1993, I retired from the Army after 21 years, having spent eleven of those flying Uh-1H (Huey) helicopters. Soon after retiring, I was hired to teach JROTC at Person High School, where I have worked since. I also teach on-road driver’s education.

For many years I served in Westwood’s AWANA program, and I was a leader in our Scout troop. Currently I serve as leader of the Navigators for our church’s Trail Life program. Recently I had the privilege of spending a few days in Baltimore as part of a small group helping Jesus Our Redeemer Church for a few days with Ben and Cindy Yocum and my daughter Grace.

In the little time I am home I guess you could say my hobbies are gardening and home and yard upkeep. We never seem to catch up. I love spending time with my family in Milton and my grown children who live in Virginia and in other cities in North Carolina.
