I'm a data-heavy and net-heavy sysadmin, with a focus in Linux and BSD, high-availability database administration (PostgreSQL and MySQL) and monitoring and alerting with open source monitoring systems like Cacti, Nagios, OpenNMS, check_mk, Observium, and more.

I've written hundreds of custom monitoring integrations, so if there's no Nagios plugin on GitHub that's fine.

On the networking side I mostly function in a support role for senior engineers, but am familiar with Cisco and Juniper, ipv6, VPNs, and very basic use of OSPF and BGP. If we hit MPLS I'm in over my head.

Also experienced with apache, nginx, PHP, Python, Java, tomcat, various clouds, Cisco, Juniper, SDN (openvswitch and OpenDaylight), VPNs, queues (zeromq, rabbitmq, Celery), map/reduce with MrJob and Hadoop, data wrangling in iPython Notebook, configuration management (puppet, salt, ansible), backup systems (bacula, pg_barman, Percona Xtrabackup), and Jenkins

On the database side of things I've run deployments with over 30 servers on different continents that had to be setup in a high-availability cluster, including doing things like live schema migrations without introducing lag

Hobbies include soccer, bicycling, most outdoors-y things, homebrewing beer and mead, loving the city of Detroit a little bit too much, and hopefully one of these days beekeeping.
