Pavan K J graduated from the Chamarajendra Academy of Visual Arts (CAVA), Mysore in the year 2005; with photography as his core subject of study. While at college, Pavan discovered his fascination for painting. This translated into his quest for frames that he could paint, using his camera. After graduation, Pavan worked for a year as an assistant photographer at Ideogram – a fashion and advertising enterprise in Bangalore.

Pavan has shown his photographs in various group exhibitions. His solo show 'Junkyard' was shown at Gallery Sumukha (www.sumukha.com) in September 2009. Photographs from his ongoing series 'Traces' were exhibited at Harmony 2008, Mumbai. He received an award in the still life category at the national level competition organised by the 'Better Photography' magazine in the year 2007 and the Dasara award for Fine art photography in the year 2002.

He has been taking on commercial assignments apart from pursuing fine art photography for the past several years.Pavan loves music and is the percussionist and vocalist of the Indian fusion band – Swarathma (www.swarathma.com)

He lives and works in Bangalore and Mysore, India.
