A physician and well-respected voice in his field, Pawan Patel, MD, supplements his position as a staff physician at Regions Hospital, St. Paul and Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids, Minnesota, with contributions both to local communities and medical research in general. In 2009, Pawan Patel, MD, accepted a position as a volunteer physician with a free community clinic in Chicago, Illinois. He has also volunteered his medical expertise in India, first at a diabetes clinic in Nagpur, and later at an HIV clinic in Hyderabad.
Dr. Pawan Patel has also established himself in the world of scientific publication via his experience as a reviewer for the Archive of Medical Science. In 2010, he professionally reviewed a study on the benefits of freshly isolated bone marrow cells for those with ischemic heart disease. In the following year, Dr. Patel fulfilled a similar role with a case report that explored the long-term implications of intravascular treatment and vascular filter placement.
In addition to his work as a reviewer, Pawan Patel, MD, has also submitted a number of electronic and paper-formatted abstracts that were later published. Most recently, he co-authored a meta-analysis of two treatments for coronary artery disease that appeared in the 2010 issue of the Journal of the American College of Cardiology. His submitted abstracts also include a study regarding pre-operative Clopidogrel and an analysis of the efficacy and safety of the drug Dronedarone.
A committed participant in the academic world, Pawan Patel, MD, currently holds the title of Preceptor for University of Minnesota medical students at Regions Hospital. Dr. Pawan Patel also served in this capacity for two Chicago Medical School students during residency training.
