Paxton Maeder-York

Cambridge, MA

I am currently a candidate for a bachelors of science degree in biomedical engineering from the Harvard School of Engineering and Applied Science. I am fascinated by medical devices and have founded a university wide organization for medical entrepreneurship called the Harvard Healthcare Innovation Group as well as designed medical apparatus in the medical robotics division of Technical University of Munich (TUM) last summer in Germany. Throughout my life I have been a prolific builder, designer, and engineer even before having any formal technical education. My experiences have spanned from the completely custom fabrication of extreme condition fiberglass skis to my learning of both MIG and TIG welding, and from CNC milling polycarbonate Utah Electrode Array fixation clamps to laser sintering cutting edge endoscopic surgery robotics. I have had many experiences designing and iterating on an idea and am familiar with both standard and novel rapid modeling, prototyping, and manufacturing techniques.
