Welcome to the world of Pastry & Bakery chef, food and floral stylist Payal Gupta. Payal’s love affair with nature and food started early, by the time she was 12 years old, she was already spending most of her time in the kitchen and by 17, she was training women in the art of cooking food.Her apprenticeship was an assistant to a veteran food stylist with whom she worked on shoots and in his kitchen. During her early years as a stylist, she also closely followed the work of Jiggs Kalra and was inspired by his lavish, opulent recipes. After this, she pursued relevant courses at the prestigious Sophia College and then, Dadar IHM, both in Mumbai. This was followed the pursuit of courses at the Bangkok division of the world’s best culinary school, Le Cordon Bleu where she specialized in Baking, Pastry and in learning cuisine basics. She completed her course while simultaneously training in the LCB kitchen.
Then, Payal branched out as an independent food stylist and had also collaborated with international brand, Swissbake, as their Bakery chef where she was responsible for bread training to a wide range of places starting from stand alone bakeries to 5 star hotels. She was invited by TajVivanta, Bangalore to conduct a bread festival in May 2013 which was widely covered by the Press. Payal has assisted Sanjeev Kapoor’s team in styling for two of his cookery books. In the last two years of working in India Payal has already worked for the top 50 food brands.
In addition to her culinary skill set, Payal also has an eye for aesthetic beauty. She is also a certified floral designer from a reputed institute – with a love for all things natural and beautiful, Payal has been known to bring even the most ordinary elements together to make something truly spectacular.
