Payam Nia attended Harvard Medical School and Northeastern University, Boston, MA in 2011 – 2012 as a Research Assistant. While there, he designed and built a handheld device to accommodate essential tremor.

Payam Nia got his Ph.D in mechanical engineering from Northeastern University. His Ph.D thesis was titled “Control-Parameter-Space Classification for Delay-Independent Stability of Linear Time-Invariant Time-Delay Systems”.
