Minister of Word and Sacrament – Guyana Presbyterian Church | Ecumenical Leader | Justice and Health Advocate

Rev. Patricia Sheerattan-Bisnauth is a Caribbean theologian and ordained Minister of Word and Sacrament in the Guyana Presbyterian Church. A committed ecumenist, she has served the global church for more than a decade - working at the intersection of faith, justice, partnership and inclusive community.

Patricia is widely recognized for her transformative leadership in the global ecumenical movement. She served (for eleven years) as Executive Secretary for Justice and Partnership at the World Communion of Reformed Churches (WCRC) in Geneva, where she led global advocacy on gender justice, covenanting for justice in the economy and the earth, youth leadership and HIV and AIDS. She was instrumental in shaping the WCRC’s Gender Justice Policy and spearheaded global initiatives on gender and leadership and ending gender-based violence across member churches and communities.

Throughout her career, Patricia has worked with churches and ecumenical bodies - including the World Council of Churches (WCC), the Council for World Mission (CWM), and regional organizations to build inclusive leadership, amplify the voices of women and youth, and strengthen interfaith dialogue on critical justice issues. She has preached and spoken globally, from the Caribbean to Africa, Asia, Latin America, Europe, and North America.

Patricia has degrees in Religion and Society, Ministerial studies and Social Work from Princeton Theological Seminary (USA), the United Theological College of the West Indies (Jamaica) and University of Guyana. She has published more than twenty articles and has co-authored and edited nine books on theology and Public Health.

With deep theological grounding and a pastoral heart, she bridges the spiritual and social, calling the church to active witness in the world. Her work weaves together Reformed tradition, Caribbean spirituality, feminist theology, public health, and a deep love for people, especially those on the margins of power.

Patricia brings to every space a passion for partnership, a voice of prophetic clarity, and an unwavering commitment to building a just, inclusive, and life-giving church. She has one child, Krysta Sadhana and two granddaughters, Chloë Vale and Evelyn Skye.
