Patrick Bohrer

Graduated with Bachelor degree in Computer Science in 1990 from the University of Texas at Austin. Worked at Motorola for 3 years and AT&T Bell Labs for 1 year before joining IBM in 1994. In IBM, I have worked in the Microelectronics division, Server group and now (since 2000) IBM Research. Much of my career, I have worked on building simulators, compilers and analysis tools for many PowerPC/POWER based systems including those chips found in most game systems today (Cell, Nintendo, XBox360) as well as IBM's POWER servers (POWER5/6/7). In 2009, I began to explore leveraging mobile systems for monitoring and managing IBM servers. This project led to the release of my iOS app on Apple's App Store (IBM Mobile Systems Remote) to better enable in-market experimentation. Realizing that mobile requires a new set of capabilities on backend servers, I been focusing on using NodeJS, MongoDB, Redis, RabbitMQ and Bootstrap to build Mobile-First experiences around IT.
