Born in Pittsburgh, USA, USAir Force military brat for 20 years, lucky to have a higher education via kindness of Sisters of Charity/Benedictines/Anglicans/Episcopalians. Then into 24 years of full-time daily journalism, specializing in art, architecture, religion, ethics, and tear-jerking stories of real people living real lives. Dropped out in 2006, now living in Spain on a rediscovered medieval pilgrimage trail, taking in travelers, writing a somewhat popular (and properly punctuated) blog on radical hospitality, Buddhism, and expat life in rural Castilla y Leon.
